Kvinesdal Rock Festival - Saturday July 14

Skipped Friday this year , according to people who was there , Sebastian Bach did an outstanding job , Jorn performed solid as usual , and the big surprise for many was SABATON , who did one hell of a show . Looking forward to see them when I get the chance , Karmøygeddon next year perhaps . . ?

Allright , on to Saturdays program :



First out was Communic , And these guys ROCK !
Playing killer songs from both albums , "Conspiracy in mind" and "Waves of visual decay" , its amazing how three guys can sound like this , fantastic ! Not so many people watching , shit weather , but still a good performance , great band .

Next up , Triosphere !
The coolest female vocalist in the world together with three of the nicest guys around , playing songs from debuth album "Onwards" .
Again , not so many people and shit weather , + some sound trouble . But despite all this , great performance , If you dont already own a copy of "Onwards" , go get it , its great.







Next up was The Cumshots , not really anything I payed much attention too , but they did a great cover version of Metallicas "Seek and destroy" !
The Carburetors after that , The guys played their usual straight forward Rock & Roll , ok music to drink some beer to.




Freak Kitchen was next up , and these guys caught me by surprise ! Three guys from sweden having fun and playing a mix between classic metal,prog,heavy,power etc . . Not sure how to describe it , but they made me forget about the rain and did a great performance , I will run out and get all their albums ASAP !

Next up was the Iron Maiden Tribute band Moonchild . What can I say , Vocalist Tony from Thunderbolt could easily replace Bruce , killer voice. This together with a great band and classic Maiden songs , it simply could not go wrong , again , fantastic concert !




And Then . . . . . the mighty KAMELOT

March of mephisto , soul society , Mourning star , The haunting , abandoned , Memento Mori , When the lights are down . . .

Do I really need to say more ..?

Never seen them live ? Go get DVD "One cold winters night" , fantastic DVD , captures the spirit of Kamelot Live . (Not the same as acctually being there , but a small comfort..)





Next up TNT , went back to the hotel because I was afraid they were going to play songs from the new album . . .

Is it possible for Kamelot to top "The Black Halo " ?



There are many good power metal bands , but there is only one Kamelot . Double bass drums, great riffs and guitar solos , catchy choruses , progressive elements and ballads , you get it all. And with Roy Kahn singing , you simply can not go wrong . This guy has one of the best voices , if not the best in the business .The new album might not be as immediate accessible as "The Black Halo" , but its the kind of album you want to listen to one more time as soon as the last song fade out.

From intro "solitare" , through "Blucher" and "Human stain" , "Mourning star" , and ending with "EdenEcho" , Kamelot continues to make evocative music that consolidates their well-deserved reputation as one of the best metal acts in the world , no matter what genre.

The "Ghost Opera" choir are also worth mentioning.Especially Amanda Sommerville , who also does a fantastic job on the female vocals for "Mourning Star", "Love You to Death" and "Ghost Opera". And of course Simone Simons , making "Blucher" one of the best songs on the album .

So , is this years album better then "The Black Halo" ? To be honest , Im still not sure , and that is usually a good sign . . .
